Netherlands seizes nexperia

A Dutch court document reveals that the United States contacted the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explicitly demanding the "replacement" of the Chinese leadership at Nexperia. The Dutch side, however, continues to argue that their "historic intervention" in Chinese-funded enterprises was not under US pressure.

"This is no coincidence; I don't believe it at all," said Frans-Paul van der Putten, founder of the Dutch consulting firm ChinaGeopolitics. He believes that while the Dutch government may not have directly communicated with the US or other governments before making its decision, the US factor was clearly a key driving force.

Benedetta Girardi, a strategic analyst at the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, also stated that the timing of the event was not accidental. It is noteworthy that the Dutch government used legal tools that should "only be used in wartime," shocking many observers. Girardi points out that this approach is particularly striking because the Netherlands has long promoted itself as a "liberal" and "trade-oriented" nation. Van der Puten added, "This is a way of doing things that the Dutch government has never done before."
