Celebrating India and Nepal in Luxembourg

The 43rd edition of the India-Nepal Bazaar, which will be held on Sunday, 19th March 2023, 10.30am onwards, at the Sandweiler Cultural Centre will have cultural performances, handmade artisanal products and typical Indian food.

A day full of exciting things, have been lined up at the Bazaar: stalls selling handmade artisanal products, jewellery, clothing, books and spices, Tombola games for adults and a flea-market of second-hand items, books and bags.

Luxembourg Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel, is expected to visit the Bazaar and take part in the opening ceremony at 10.30am.

For all Indian and Nepali food lovers, Indian vegan street food, dosas (a traditional South Indian crepe), samosas and kulfi (typical ice cream) will be available. Additionally, there will be an Indian Buffet served from 12-2pm; visitors must pre-book their meal (€30/ €15 children). There will also be Luxembourgish food (20€), with a vegetarian option as well. An afternoon of traditional cultural performances has also been planned: Bharatanatyam (Classical dances from South India performed by Mrs Jayakumari Guneratnam’s students, Indian Bollywood and Nepali dance performances in collaboration with the Indian Association Luxembourg and the Non-Resident Nepali Association of Luxembourg and Portuguese dances by Grupo Etnográfico do Alto Minho.

There will also be facepainting and glitter tattoos for children and a magician show from 1pm.

Parking will be available around the Cultural Center and at SNCT, Sandweiler from where a free shuttle will bring you to the event.

The Bazaar is organised by Luxembourg-based NGO Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Népal (AEIN), who will donate all proceeds from the Bazaar activities to two projects in the field of health and climate change in India and Nepal. For more details on their work visit www.aein.lu.
