Cycling heroes face their fans

The euphoria of Sunday's Tour de France finish is expected to reach unprecedented levels this Thursday when cycling stars tour the capital for the 25th Gala Tour de France.

From 6pm, cycling fans the country over will take to the streets of Luxembourg City to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars.

This year's podium winners Fränk and Andy Schleck are likely to be among the most eagerly awaited names. They will be joined by fellow Luxembourg nationals Ben Gastauer and Laurent Didier along with other members of the Luxembourgish team Leopard Trek, including Dane Jakob Fuglsang and Belgian Maxime Monfort and celebrities Tony Martin, Martin Mortensen and Will Clarke.

Gala organisers ACC Contern have also invited Europcar team leader Thomas Voeckler, who came fourth in this year's tour general classification.

The star-studded line up will conduct a brief one-mile bike ride around the City centre, during which the route will be closed to traffic.
Information for road users

During the gala, cyclists will travel from Avenue de la Liberté (Place des Martyre), along Avenue de la Gare, rue Origer, Avenue de la Liberté, rue Goethe, Boulevard de la Pétrusse and Place de Metz before returning to the finish in Avenue de la Liberté.

Motorists will not be able to park along the route that the Gala will follow from 2pm to 6pm. Avenue de la Liberté will be closed from 5pm. Parking will be available in all City centre car parks during the festivities.

Residents living along the route could face some disruptions accessing their home during the closure times.
Bus changes

During the festivities, some bus lines are expected to be disrupted until at least midnight. From 5pm all buses travelling along Avenue de la Liberté will be diverted as follows:
From the City centre towards the station, buses will be diverted along Avenue Marie-Thérèse, Route d'Esch and Rue de Hollerich.

Martyrs, Paris/Zitha (platforms 3 and 4) and Wallis bus stops will be replaced by a bus stop at the station, Huese Vic (line 3), Laboratoire (line 13) and a temporary stop in rue de Prague at the corner of Boulevard de la Pétrusse on line 23.

Buses travelling from the station towards the City centre will be diverted along the Rocade de Bonnevoie, the Viaduc and Boulevard F D Roosevelt.

Paris/Zitha (platforms 1 and 2), Martyrs and Wallis will be replaced by stops on Boulevard d’Avranches (opposite rue du Fort Wallis).
