English Sitting Volleyball Club Champions to come to Luxembourg for 3 match series!

Sitting Volleyball has actually been around in Luxembourg since a Men’s National finished 7th at the 1980 Paralympic Games in Arnhem, the first Games ever to include the sport in its programme.

At the start of this season a group of people have come together and started running sessions at Volley Club Bonnevoie in conjunction with the Luxembourg Paralympic Committee. More recently they have played some friendly matches against Vandoeuvre Nancy Volley Ball winning both of them 3-1. But now things get serious.

Battle Back are one of most well known teams in England and were initiated back in 2009 when Volleyball England started their Sitting Volleyball Grand Prix Series. They were founded by ‘Help for Heros’ to provide an initiative that uses Adaptive Adventure Training and Sports Rehabilitation to help seriously wounded Service personnel gain independence and confidence to focus on what they can achieve, rather than what they can’t.

They have also recently beat the 2013 champions, East London Lynx, coming back from 2 sets down to win 3-2 in the final.

Matches will be held in Cessange on Saturday 24th May at 10.00 and 14.00 - entry is free so come down to see another form of Volleyball. There will even be a chance to try the sport for yourself.
