Open Caroling for Christmas December 12th at the Echternach Abbey

(Re)Discover the joys of singing together, especially at this time of the year which very naturally brings up the traditional Christmas Carols. That is exactly what Luxemburg’s two music federation, namely UGDA and Union Pie X, together with the European Institute for Choir Singing (INECC), are planning for December 12th at the honors court of Echternach Abbey, an open Christmas-Caroling accompanied by a small wind-orchestra.

Nearly 400 singers and musicians (for the accompanying orchestra) from both federations have already registered for this event which is open for anybody who likes to sing and wishes to join in! Participation is easy: free downloads of scores and mp3-files with the accompanying arrangements are available on the following internet sites:, www. or under the title “Chrëschtdagssangen”. Familiarize with these arrangements by singing along at home, and simply join in on the day. Musical director for the event is Nicolas Billaux, a teacher of choirsinging with UGDA’s music school.

This concert is a COVID-Check event. Meeting up is at 4 p.m. in the main courtyard of the Abbey in Echternach (left of the basilica) and is open to singers and public. The event will be filmed and retransmitted on “Apart-TV” and / or other local channels.

Before and after the concert, which is due to last approximatively one hour, feel free to visit the traditional Christmas Market organized like every year by Echternach’s clubs an associations. Also, all Highstreet shops, bars and restaurants are open on that day.
