52nd National Jonk Fuerscher Contest

From Friday to Sunday, March 17 to 19, 2023, the Fondation Jeunes Scientifiques Luxembourg (FJSL) will hold its 52nd National Jonk Fuerscher Contest at the Forum Campus Geesseknäppchen, accessible live via different online platforms.

The National Jonk Fuerscher awards recognize outstanding projects by young scientists aged between 11 and 21.

The Fondation Jeunes Scientifiques Luxembourg has organized the contest since 1971. It is supported by the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, the FNR, and the European Commissionas well as numerous sponsors. The awards cover various scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, social sciences, and humanities.

Hence, on March 17 and 18, the young scientists will present their projects at the Forum on stage and in front of an expert jury. Furthermore, the audience can tune in live, as the presentations will be live-streamed on various online platforms such as RTL play, science.lu, and the social media channels of the Luxembourg Science Center, thus accessible internationally to anybody with a computer, tablet or smartphone and a stable internet connection.

During the Open House on Sunday, March 19, from 13:00 to 16:00, the public is invited on-site to the Forum Campus Geesseknäppchen to discover the projects and exchange with the young scientists.

Afterward, our guests can attend the Award Ceremony in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Yuriko Backes; the Minister of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development, Joëlle Welfring, and attend numerous artistic performances, while the broad audience can follow the ceremony through a live stream.

The surge of AI in the educational field has particularly impacted how students learn and the project they submit for the contest in recent years.

AI-powered tools have the potential to transform the educational landscape and provide students with more effective learning experiences but also change the technological landscape available to them in their professional careers.

For all this reason, the FSJL chose to invite keynote speaker Sebastien Faye for the event, a communication technologies specialist with expertise in artificial intelligence.

Entrance is free of charge and the underground parking of the Forum will be accessible for visitors.
