(ADW) After many years of enjoying a solo musical career in Luxembourg, Chris Jeanpaul decided it was high time to start a band. Not losing reference to himself, a six-piece band developed aptly called CHR!S. “Now we’re a band, everyone can say what they think, whether we do is another matter, but normally we make decisions together” stated Chris when asked whether he was the ‘big boss’ of CHR!S.
Chris no doubt made the correct decision not to lose the connection with his solo career having experienced great national successes with his first album entitled “Open End” spawning three hit singles played on local radio stations back in 2007. Then in 2009 came the album “No Excuses”, again producing several singles including the title track, arguably the best know song to date.
CHR!S has been compared the likes of Depeche Mode in their first album, and even U2. “We have several influences” explained Nicolas Palumbo the band’s guitarist “you can recognise (in live performances) a U2 influence. We have a song called ‘Remember’ where we’ve incorporated a U2 melody because it came up spontaneously”. CHR!S is also said to have Snow Patrol and Coldplay influences too. “I wouldn’t say it’s all over the place, there is a concept!” Nicolas added.
This year saw the release of a third album called 'Time' and a catchy single played frequently on the radio 'Sacrifice' was released at the beginning of the year followed by ‘Begging You to Stay’, ‘No Compromise’ and the title track itself: Time.
CHR!S have performed several live concerts this year and the next time you can catch them on September 14 at the Nordic Rock Festival followed by a concert at Rockbox in Clausen on October 12.
