Visit of Vianden Castle by Her Imperial Highness Princess Akiko of Mikasa
Offering yearly throngs of visitors, from casual onlookers to seasoned enthusiasts, a dazzling array of aesthetic and architectural marvels, the Castle of Vianden seems to be a favourite destination for the members of the Imperial House of Japan.
After the visits in 1983 and in 1997 of Their Imperial Majesties, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko and in 1990 of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Naruhito,
the representatives of Vianden Castle had the great honour to welcome these days Her Imperial Highness, Princess Akiko of Mikasa.
Staying in Luxembourg, Her Imperial Highness Princess Akiko was welcomed at Vianden Castle by Mrs. Guida Biever, president of The Friends of Vianden Castle, before it was up to vice president, Mrs. Gaby Frantzen-Heger , who had previously the honour of giving a guided tour to Their Imperial Majesties, to explain the history of this medieval legacy.
Impressed by the site that achieves the perfect symbiosis of Romanesque and Gothic styles, Her Imperial Highness signed the Golden Book of the Castle.
