Inauguration of the mixed path in the communes of Schuttrange and Niederanven

In the context of raising awareness among residents and people employed in the commune to move more on foot or by bicycle, the communes of Schuttrange and Niederanven took the initiative of creating a mixed path linking the localities of Munsbach and Niederanven along of road 132. This investment is based on a concept of active mobility defining the main lines of the future. The implementation program was also consistent with the reflections carried out in the context of the "coordinated and integrative inter-communal development of the communes bordering Luxembourg airport".

The connecting path has the great advantage of directly connecting the localities of Niederanven and Schuttrange. It also connects the Syrdall Business Park to the existing and planned active mobility network of the two communes.

Considering that the industrial areas on both sides welcome thousands of workers every day, this track is an ideal means of mobility to circulate outside the road traffic between the two areas. By being able to move around without a car, the project is an important step in favour of active mobility and ecology. Faced with constantly dense traffic on the road, the new cycle path also guarantees the necessary safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

The total cost of the project amounts € 948,320. As this is an inter-communal project, the costs were distributed in proportion to the work required in the respective territories. This is how the commune of Schuttrange supported the project with two thirds and the commune of Niederanven with one third.

The mobility week, which will take place this year from Friday 16th to Thursday 22nd September, is an ideal opportunity to proceed with the inauguration of the new mixed path.

On September 19th, 2022, the representatives of the communes of Schuttrange and Niederanven officially inaugurated the new mixed path in the presence of Mr. Jeff Biever of the Directorate for Mobility Planning.
